President Oscar Arias, Costa Rica's most popular president in history, arrives at the pavilion first, prepared to transfer power in this environmental-friendly democratic country. He sees a woman in a wheelchair and breaks away from his entourage to grasp her hands. She blesses him, a typical scene throughout his four years as president.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner donated his entire salary during his presidency to help children, the poor, and the handicapped. Costa Ricans soon found that this very special leader was serving a higher purpose as he demonstrated his love for Costa Rica and its people through actions and programs that have produced recognized positive results in just four short years.

The presidents of all Central American countries and dignitaries from throughout the world attended the inauguration ceremonies including Prince Felipe de Bourbon, son of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sophia of Spain.

President Laura Chinchilla Addresses the Nation

"We thank President Oscar Arias for his service to Costa Rica and Mankind and we look forward to the next four years under the leadership of President Laura Chinchilla. We pray that the Lord will continue to guide and bless Costa Rica, its people, and its leadership."

Citizens of the world. Keep your eyes on Costa Rica. There is a reason why retirees, investors, environmentalists, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and high technology firms are flocking to Costa Rica. Part of the reason is shown above. This is a country that is about to "Take Off". It is no accident that generous lending packages are being offered by Costa Rican banks to qualified individuals and businesses. When a nation has a positive cash flow as more and more foreigners visit and retire in Costa Rica, some exciting things begin to happen. As an example, an already strong Costa Rican tourism industry has joined forces with the medical profession to create a very cost effective "medical tourism industry"; a mature agricultural industry blessed with the richest soil on earth now produces the freshest fruits and vegetables for its people at a fraction of the cost in other countries; new highway systems completed during the Arias presidency have created enormous real estate opportunities for young and old on Costa Rica's Atlantic and Pacific coasts and once-inaccessible virgin mountains. Keep your eyes on Costa Rica! You can take that advice "to the bank".
